Digital Hydrologic Cataloging-Unit Boundaries for the Powder River, Wyoming, at 1:24,000 Scale

Metadata Updated: November 12, 2020

This data set contains hydrologic cataloging-unit boundaries for selected units within the Powder River drainage basin of Wyoming. The hydrologic unit boundaries were delineated by using a hydrologically-conditioned digital elevation model covering the Powder River drainage basin to produce preliminary boundaries of smaller hydrologic units. Interactive editing followed in which the cataloging-unit boundaries were digitized on computer monitor screens displaying at least three important reference data layers: 1:24,000-scale U.S. Geological Survey digital raster graphics (images of topographic quadrangle maps); 1:24,000-scale DEM-derived preliminary boundaries; and 1:250,000-scale cataloging-unit boundaries.

Access Constraints Use Constraints: The data sources are published at a scale of 1:24,000; hence the subject data are considered to have a spatial data resolution and use limitations corresponding to a nominal scale of 1:24,000. In addition, the source topographic contours were based on data collected during 1951 to 1984; in a few areas, the present land surface (and consequently the hydrologic unit boundary) has undoubtedly been changed from that indicated herein., Access Constraints: none
